I happen to like an open pole barn. I like it to allow the air around the stacks during any sweat.
It is a whole lot more fun loading out a pickup or 16 ft tandem trailer if there is a little air.
If you are thinking to keep color for the horse trade than build a good ware house Keep the hay in the dark except when a customer is looking or when need light to load or unload.
