Central Kansas
Ben...a little bleaching and weathering on the sides of the bales is not a big issue. This is Kansas, and the wind blows a lot and with good velocity a good bit of the time. I have looked at the hoop buildings and to get sidewalls up high enough to not stairstep a lot of hay, there is a tremendous amount of space above the bales. With our wind, there is a good bit of rain that blows into the hoop and can go back 3 tiers with significant moisture. I have thought the roof only barn was a good option...not many around here. Would it help for rain blow in to bring tin down about 8' from eaves on the sides? Good info Ben, thanks.
