Never use a Jake brake on a combination vehichle on slick surfaces. Water, Ice or maybe even a slick hay field. The tractor will slow down but what ever you are pulling may or may not. If it don't, it will come around sideways and jack knife.


That's a moot point if his equipment doesn't have brakes anyway.


I don't know why I even bother. Nobody gets what I am trying to say. No brakes on the drawn implement? No way to slow it down. Put a Jake on the tractor and it will. Trailer pushing and tractor with brakes on will cause a crash if it is slick. Read your CDL manual.
