Shouldn't have to wait 5 minutes to be able to grab chain. How long do they last not oiling them? I tried it on my planter chains and got half the life. If the chain would last half as long without oil though it may be worth it as stuff we use is JB aerosol cans that ain't cheap.
it usually takes me 5 minutes to get back there after I finish, might not be warm when baling but I'd wager a bet they are. We generally run a baler 10-12,000 bales and trade. I have had no chain issues and the day the baler leaves the chains look like new. I went against old time wisdom to not oil them but we get along just fine.
