Jim ,why would someone disk chisel in the spring?? Deep tillage is a no-no in the spring. I can see why it was hard, I bet it was marbles and clods to plant into.

As far as cyst , the tests may show 20000 ,but that was just in that spot or those spots. The counts will only be as good as the soil tests. To really know one would have to grid sample the field for cyst to get a real picture. Or tell me what your bean yields have been doing the last 5 years of rotation. Are you seeing many more yellow spots and short beans in the field??Going corn on corn one cycle will do little to reduce counts. The cyst can lay there dormant for 10 years.
I would not be scared to plant a good cyst resistant variety in rotation. The PI 78788 lines are still the highest yielding lines out there. The peking lines have yield drag in my opinion. Reason being is there are way more parent lines to cross and breed in the pi78788 lines thus the odds of finding higher yielding lines is better. Rotate varieties within the pi lines and you will do fine on yield and reducing cyst counts.
Yield is the most important thing you need, so look for the highest yielding lines first with multiple race resistance (3 and 14)
