Years ago I've seen a unit that you set a small square bale on and it just broke up the bale. The one I saw had a small gas engine on. Usually used for breaking up beding for cow barns. We like to mulch a lot of our garden and the wife doesn't think much of shaking the straw apart with a fork. Big deal we're in our 70s I told her I did that with hundreds of bales when we milked. Didn't impress her.

Anyone got one in the corner?

I have one. I used to use it to break up hay bales to put into our TMR mixer. It looks like a small manure spreader. Put the bale on the table and it feeds into the beaters.

I'm in northeast Ohio, so it is a long ways from your location. The electric motor is probably worth more than the actual machine.

That's the one I remember. The wife and I always enjoy going to Laymen's at Kidren so it's a thought.

I took a look at it this morning. It was made by Woods. I robbed the electric motor off of it a few years ago for a hay elevator. If you want it, I think it is worth about $50 without the motor. Lehmans in Kidron is about an hour west of me: https://www.lehmans.com/
