Oklahoma | I think you still have time to establish. I have been happy with red river variety, but a mix of quick n big and red river could be the ticket. 4-5 lb/ac broadcasted and harrowed will work. Get the seed bed firm before seeding. If you have access to a cultipacker or roller, use it.
Here I could expect 2 cuttings and a seed crop. Manage for seed at the end of summer and it will come back year after year with a little encouragement (tillage).
