We painted several barns and my house with solid tinted stain. All 3 projects lasted about 15 years before needing a recoat. So far only the house has peen re-done. Advantage of stain is no loose flacking paint. One barn had not been painted in 40 plus years and it took a lot of material to cover the weathered yellow pine boards. 30 years later it still has some color left.
