ND | I used to sell JD for 25 yrs & good looking tractors sell better-it shows the buying customer that the former owner had some care provided. Rougher appearing tractors get less attention & do not value up. Their were jocky's bringing up tractors from the south quite a bit in the mid 1990's-their underbellies were usually repainted from the cotton stalks & they always had single rear tires with new rear tires - & as JD tractors the southern tractors performed well as the northern but usually the lower 3 pt arm seals under the tractor belly were always leaking from all the 3 pt work & they sold for less as well & you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that price always plays into a farmers line-its usually the bottom line price that counts but upon paying less you usually will want top line price trading that cheaper tractor in later. There are tractors up here with 8000 hrs that look as good as ones with 2000 hrs- I'm sure that is true as well for southern farms as well. | |
