Subject: Not looking real moist just a little bit north of you

Jesup, IA
Went to a wedding in Indianapolis over the weekend. Crops from here (Waterloo, IA area) to Galesburg, IL look dry. Beans are small and late. Corn is uneven and even though this is not the politically correct answer, some sidedress nitrogen strategies have not had enough water to work well. Corn is yellow.

Peoria to Bloomington, IL is the garden spot. Early planted crop look promising. But getting dry.

Champaign, IL east remains a slow motion train wreck. Late, stunted, replanted, thirsty, unemerged or yet to be planted.... Indiana farmers have a sense of denial.

I've come to the realization that maybe the beans are as much of an issue as corn. Mid June and the average bean is ankle high? And with a thin stand. 90k evenly planted is one thing. None here and 130k there is a different situation. Can they really grow enough to have ample nodes for pods to set?

Here is what my crop looks like today. The cold, damp weather in the last half of May was a fooler. It wouldn't get fit to plant, but we didn't get enough water to build reserves. Now the deficits are showing. We are at 0" for the month. And our deficit is 5".
