Based on how the wpc runs are day-by-day, I think it looks like one of those failure types. The widespread 1"+ comes from 4-5 days of 1/4" rains. Those seem to fail often, but we'll see. I bet the areas with 2"+ receive 3/4"-1", the 1" receive 1/4"-1/2", and less receive nothing to trace.
