Have read that it is a wear problem that causes this issue. The bolts and bushings that hold cutterbar start wearing and cause excess up down movement of bar and the slip part from cutter bar to gearbox that looks like pto shaft gets wore and jams which shoves shaft up when cutter bar hits something which breaks ear inside housing. Right or wrong it makes sense to me.
