Couple of things come to mind, make sure you have a little tension coming out of the twine box, knife needs to be sharp, maybe out of alignment? or the pin the twine arm pivots on is getting loose, hay dogs need to work and wedges should be in chamber near the knotters, but I suspect it may be the twine, don't know why everyone is not using plastic, lower price and fewer problems
