Maybe a lot of those luxuries you are referring to are being paid for by ROI instead of profits farming. If you own a descent 80 in the cornbelt it should net you at least 16k in ROI annually. If you own 500 acres you can sit on a couch and earn 100k annually(or more). Lots of guys own acres, not all of it has debt on it.
