Subject: RE: sad grain markets & hard times

Heart of Ohio
True that Tiler.
Several farms "here" that sold for $900.00/A in the 90's had fetched north of $2000.00/A not more than a dozen years prior. Like you apperantly, wife and I saved what we could for that first down pyt on an 80/A (where it might be, I had no idea at the time), wasn't easy by any means but, we did what we could and as luck (and preparation) had it bought our first WET and not so great 70/A in 1992 for a little north of $1000.00/A right next to a rented 80/A I was already on.
I was scared and nervous at the thought of that debt, BUT, a friend and old timer in the area, was very encouraging to me and made sure I understood "The hardest farm you'll buy is the FIRST one ! " Maybe that's not true of everyone ..... but it sure was for me.
