Ben ,for me with Dad in pigs the 80's helped us as in later 70's land values were run up so much and 18% to get new mortgage that by '79 I had as a young guy just about given up on being able to buy anymore land ,then '80's.lower grain prices,still high interest, machinery/land values dropping yearly but hog s stayed Ok and between '83 and '86 was able to purchase 4 small farms and each one was cheaper than the previous one and the last one a smaller acreage we were able to pay cash...seen many grain guys that expanded a lot and looked like winners at the time having sales or having to pay there kids farm loans........what scares me now is guys think $10k land is a buy--guess it depends on if you have cash or credit for it
