S Illinois
Is anyone in your area seriously thinking about turning down 90+% of a guarantee not to plant to get a 55% PP guarantee check? It would seem like a no brainer to either keep planting corn or switch to beans way before taking that big of hit especially considering your average first frost is the middle of Oct. Lets just see where we are in 2 weeks and the guarantee is down to 85%. Geographically we are in the same kind of zone and PP is nowhere on the radar yet. Corn has another 10 days here to get done and after that beans are an option for another month before PP would be considered. Just giving up too much of a guarantee by taking PP.

Edit: Does dryland get planted later? KS 5 year average progress as of this past Monday is 86% and was sitting at 70% as of the last report. I would have thought a relatively dry state like KS would be 95% or better every year by the 20th of May.
