This weather is getting concerning to me. But I've had backyarditis before. While virtually no planting has occurred "here" in 10 days, I'm always amazed at the USDA planting progress. Don't get me wrong, not disputing the numbers, after all the trade believes them, that's what matters. Sometimes simply amazed at the pace a crop can be put in now days.
Once again, "here" is shaping up like 2013, which was terrible for SE MN, NE IA, and Western WI. And of course I understand the bulk of the cornbelt produced a very good yield that year.
It is frustrating to see less than ideal conditions in your area or widespread area that you travel and feel the markets don't notice.....but they are always right. Just sometimes they correct very violently.
2013 was a battle, but if you got it in, against all odds, there was alot of record yields in NE IA that year. It stayed wet or there would have been big trouble. Time will tell what happens this year. |
