Exactly. We are talking two different parts of a county. Driving 20 miles to do it but for a guaranteed profit doesn't seem too dumb. So yes the neighbors in the lighter ground stand no chance. This is so common it's ridiculous



In our area the big farms typically don't have a farm 20 miles away, they just farm a bunch of ground the whole 20 miles, and 20 miles the other way. They will likely pay too much to rent some poor ground, but they have enough existing land (rented or owned) to cancel out the couple losers. Also, by farming more acres, they are driving the farm average closer to county average, simply due to variance in the ground across the whole operation (less likely to be in a small pocket of good land).

Once again, do these operators go around and tell people they are doing this?
