I understand the benefits, but here's what I don't quite get. I've got some rye for a cover. Some is heading out, some at boot stage, some not that advanced. If I were to roll/crimp and plant green, beans would not be in the ground until sometime after the first week of June. That's kind of late, and I gotta believe ding the final yield. Wouldn't that negate the advantages of planting green? Maybe something that only works well in areas with longer growing seasons? What am I missing?
