I have a 140 HP (JD 6140 front wheel assist tractor) and am wanting to pull a 15 knife NH3 bar for side dress. Is this enough horsepower? I appreciate any input that you can give me.

Like everyone else sorry. It isn't always about HP as much as it is having enough weight on the tractor to get the traction you need. Here we have too many hills and you could pull an 11 with good conditions. If it pulls hard, you make struggle.

Had a neighbor who cranked up the HP on a FWA tractor and tried pulling a 15 K and was over 200 HP. He didn't have enough weight and ran out of traction and couldn't put the NH3 on deep enough.

Not enough Horsepower, not enough weight.
