Subject: RE: Oil Filter CaseIH 7250

The LF3548 uses a stratapore filter media that is rated to filter down to about 10 micron. The LF9548 is an upgrade of the LF3548. The LF9548 uses stratapore filter media and also stacked disc filter media in the same filter. The stratapore filter media is considered 'full flow' in that all the engine oil goes through it. The stacked disc filters down to about 2 micron and is considered 'bypass' filtration as only some of the oil flow through the filter goes through it. I think the 'bypass' you were thinking of is if the oil can't pass through the filter so it bypasses it to still provide the engine with lubrication. I don't think either of those filters have a 'bypass' function in that sense. It is built in the engine.
