Last year was definately the exception, not the rule. I guess it depends on what you would consider "major" though as far as droughts go. Dad disked corn under in 1983, and again in 2012. Several other years of short crops, but not to that extent.
Farm Futures had a page or maybe cover of pic of corn drying up in '83 and caption something like wife saying "stay out of PIC program and really cash in" ...drought/weather of '83 & '88 was extreme all over...we always fare worse on too much rain than drought...betting on weather is not a marketing plan |
