Ottawa Canada | Target orders work great in areas of relatively strong basis (like Ontario). I totally understand growers in sub $3.00 corn counties not wanting to lock in too low and miss a rally. That could be because of the unknown during the growing season, or later if we actually do drop below expected trend line yield. The question becomes how to deal with it.
Sell for cash, buy courage calls?
Futures hedges?
Build more bins?
Sell options to increase net price?
