have a folding 1600 22 point  here, and I have to admit, while they look 'frail' as hell, the dang thing has really held up.    After pounding ours for 5 yrs now, I finally popped a cross frame weld when I hooked a large tree root.

Sometimes when I unfold it, I have to jump out and flip the walking beam so it's right side up.

Put in a new master re phase cylinder last year,     I went with a non Jd cylinder... and use depth stops on the master cylinder  instead of the original  internal valve.

As far as  'hopping'..   speed is   everything..     I'm overpowering ours  by almost  double,  so  I have to watch my speed in tough conditions.    Usually pull it one gear slower than the disk, so  5.5 mph.   I'm  running it so  the tops of the  double point is just covered..   so  10-12 inches.   I can  bury it and stop the tractor too if I want!

For me, it was a good value @ 1500 bucks..   it needed a couple of tires, and all new points of course.
