| Sounds like a bad connection/ground somewhere. Sounds like the fan is pulling power from the steering.
Look under the dash at the steering motor and see if there is an idiot light near or at the steering control box that flashes an error... if it has one. I'm asking because my 800 has aftermarket p/s and it has a cousins troll box with an idiot light.
When all else fails, call Kromminga Motors (a New Holland dealer also), and ask for the Polaris shop. They work on a pile of them and know their stuff. Told me things about mine I had read on the net and 2 local dealers were clueless about.
