Benson, MN | First got DTN in 1989. When it was the only game in town. In the middle 90's even the bar that I was a part time bartender in had one for their customers to "watch" the markets and weather on. As soon as good internet service became available, it was easy to let go. I got into an argument on the phone with a customer retention specialist from DTN when I cancelled. I said why would I pay for this when I can access this on the Internet for free. She claimed that their weather was more accurate that the National Weather Service. I wished her good luck with that. Now with smart phones, social media, grain bids via text message and apps like WeatherBug, I dont see how DTN could possibly survive as a pay for service. | |
