SW KS, near Dodge City | I completely agree with what you say and what you're doing... But I also am of the opinion that the farming world has moved on from the time a person could build it themselves with just a little help and a few breaks. Now it takes either very significant help or very large breaks. That's going to be the key to transitioning a farm from generation to generation, as the $$$ involved has become much, much larger than before.
And the one advantage ground out here used to have in a big way was basis... Might not raise as many bushels, but the feedyard basis really made up ground. Now, with the ethanol demand seeming to flatten that out somewhat, it's not nearly the advantage. | |
