Subject: RE: Land values

Anderson County Kansas
Yeah I own some ground out your way, and I have been looking to buy some more. Dryland out there for years was bringing as much as here, now it isn't bringing as much. My dryland corn average is 125, and beans are 40, compared to half that or less for milo compared to dryland corn here out your way. That doesn't even take into account the fallow year in the rotation out there on dryland. Ground out there has started to come down, here the last few auctions have set new highs in this immediate area. When I say I am pretty sure any ground I would buy here would look like a good investment in 20 years, you have to look at more than the immediate return. It would be a farm that joined me or was right across the road more than likely. I have one son that has came back to the farm and another in high school that might. It's as much about making the operation more efficient in the future as well as immediate return.
