east central iowa
What do you think about buying 4.2 calls now then setting price targets around that area? What month will you buy your puts for? Problem I had last year buying the July calls was not knowing to cash them in or not on the June rally. I guess buying the puts if we get to that level would take the guess work out of trying to decide to sell the calls. For a true hedge a guy would leave the calls in place obviously but need more time then the July's I feel, then buying the Sept gets more expensive. Our area last year had pineapple corn in June and it made it hard to make a sale or take profit on calls. I need a better approach this year. I should have taken profit from the calls and bought puts. Looking back is to easy though just another lesson learned I guess. Thanks for your reply
