NWC Ohio | Those are not rubber pads on the inside of the axle tube. They are a hard fiber of some sort. They need to be shimmed pretty tight, with a feeler gauge. Sorry, I forget the spec. I replaced all those pads a few years back on an 854, and it was cheaper to order individual parts ( had a diagram in front of me) than it was to buy the rebuild kit with all the needed parts in it. Replacing those wear pads and shimming them to spec fixed my axle tube twisting problems.
2nd gear should put you around 12 mph. That is all id ever want to go in one. 1st gear I think is 9 mph, that's fast when going from 6 mph, but seems slow when coming back down from 12. I usually boundaried the field in 1st gear, and ran the fields in 2nd. | |
