We just started with a small scale bee coop (100 hives). We bought 2 hives ($200 ea), he populates, treats for mites etc, maintains hives. We do some winter sugar water feeding. We get 1/4 honey(jars) and can sell excess to coop for $3 pound. Get $ 12 at farmer market. Can sell hives if it dosen't work in the future. Helping a friend and get a little honey to share with neighbors and landowners. Good enough for me.
