Up here we call them a weeping bed. As for a guide I'm not sure where to look. Here it is sized by how many bedrooms in the house and how many fixtures in the house eg sinks, toilets, tub etc. The weeping bed size is also calculated be soil type and how fast the water travels through it, called a (percolating test)
