Who all has a device like this in their system? If it does it's job, you shouldn't have to add any additional water. Mine has never worked right. I think this is what bleedred was referring to.

That would be a negative on that valve. its not a water feeding valve. That particular valve in the photh is a automatic air bleeder valve.In order for ti to function normally you loosen the small cap on top jsut to it si loose and leave it that way. it si there so that in case it stats bypassing water for any reason you cna simply screw it shut again.
Most sytems have an automatic pressure regualting valve between the water supply valve and the system that looks a little different than that valve does.
