When doing the corollary whereby 2016 state by state yields are used and 2004 state acreages are used, the US corn average yield for this past year would have been a shade under 176.9 vs the USDA current estimate of 174.6. It looks like expansion of acres has removed some of the sharpness of the yield peaks that we have seen before.
