South Central Iowa | I don't see it either. The 2011 scenario is possible with the late August surge. What a year that must of been. Puts and Calls could have both paid off.
We seem to have a lot of subsoil moisture just like last year. The gravel roads were nearly unusable the past month. It would not freeze and it was so wet underneath that they seemed to just turn to mud. Even major gravel roads were that way in this area. Last spring at thaw was like that as well. It is wet down below and even with light showers and below normal precipitation in May and June, that subsoil is still enough to get us to July anyhow. Late spring and early summer was pretty dry in my area last year and I think it was in WCIL as well. We had a monster crop when the rains came on in July and August. That early dryness did almost no damage. | |
