For your use, I'd go with a short wheel based truck, and a 34-38 foot trailer,. You can scale a full load, but you can't bridge it. But they are handy to get around, and no farther than you are hauling, I wouldn't worry about it. I'd also go daycab, but they are higher priced. 9 speed, or 13 speed preferable, and at the min. a 350hp truck.
