Subject: RE: What is needed to gear up to make battery cables?

Am doing the same thing. Local truck repair place can make about anything I need but wanted to have stuff on hand to be able to make my own replacements at a moments notice. Also in the process of switching over to stud type group 31 style batteries and installing disconnect switches on stuff as I replace batteries.

Have not used my supplies yet other than a test crimp which appeared very secure but like the quality for my situation that I am seeing so far.

Here is the battery conversion disconnect thread.

Still looking around for 2/0 welder cable. There was a previous post in here linking to a place that had reasonable prices and various colored wire.

Couple more wire links on Amazon tempted to go with the Crimp Supply one as you get 5 crimp on ends plus I was pleased with fast service on the copper ends I linked above.

Couple others from Amazon

Not sure how all this stuff will work long term and last as I am just getting started into this. I'm just tired of high dollar specialized cables that have to be special ordered and corroded clamps that eventually arc no matter how well they are maintained.

Just providing some links to discussion and products in case others may be interested. No assurances that any of this will suit your needs or applications but so far I think the quality of the items I have got appear to be up to my expectations.

Edit: Figured the hydraulic style crimper could be replaced several times vs. the higher initial cost of the long handled style crimpers with rotating dies.
