Central MN | Ran a ExactEmerge last year for the first time and really like it but we only plant at about 7 to 7.5 mph. Spacing was perfect and emergence was great but i did notice that any time I tried to push it over 7.5 mph I started finding air pockets in the seed trench and no matter what I did with adjustment on the closing wheels I could not get rid of the air pockets over 7.5 mph, and i am in conventional till and strip till. Next year I am going to try putting either a Dawn Curvetine on one side or put furrow cruisers on, not that i want to go any faster but I just want some reassurance that my seed trench is being closed and getting dirt firmed on the seed. Actually 7 to 7.5 is a real nice speed, fast enough for going up and down the field but not to fast for turning around. | |
