What your field really needs is a good dose of manure - hog, dairy, beef, poultry...doesn't really matter, but that is the most economical way to build soil fertility. If manure wasn't available (and you look to be a long tractor ride from Lancaster County), I would be broadcasting 215 lb/ac of muriate of potash this fall, and banding as much P as I could through the planter next spring. If 200 pounds of MAP through the planter seems like too much, add half to the broadcast this fall and band the rest. You will get far more kick out of the banded P than the broadcast.

I hope it was dolomitic lime you applied. Otherwise, you should be using K-Mag instead of muriate to supply some magnesium, and you will have missed a golden opportunity to fix the Mg shortage economically.

Do not put any urea on this fall. You might retain some until next spring, or you might not. Fall applied N is generally a waste of money, especially in our humid climate!
