Kingston,Mi | If you are into small country cottages, Casa Loma is in the city as a historical place, operating museum and the location of a Kiwanis Club. During WW2 it was a location where sonar and Asdic were researched. Apparently a portion was closed off with a sheet that said "under renovation" so that researchers came and went as if the were part of the Kiwanis or museum crowd. The building and grounds took 3 years and the efforts of 300 workman to complete, it remains Canada's largest "private" home (no one actually has lived there in 3/4 of a century).
