On the topic of feedlot performance why not use a moderate frame F1 British breed cow (Hereford X Angus) and breed her to a calving ease continental bull (maybe a simangus or something in that line). Cows would have hetrotsis and be more efficient with available resources and have theoretically better conception rates, calves would have hybrid vigor and heavier finish weights.
