I put a plow on a JD 850J. First thing to consider is if hydraulic system is open or closed center. Not sure on the komatsu. In the 850 line, C'a are open and J'a are closed.

Many people pick the 850 for its hydro. Are you sure you will have enough hydraulic pressure (2500+) at less than 1mph? 850J could run .2mph with full pressure.

Cooling may be an issue as Dozers are not normally pumping the oil require for plowing.

I've never been around open center proportional valves, but I believe hey complicate things and cost more.


The dozer was great for low speed runs with lots of turns. I put my plow on an MT865B and don't regret it one bit.
