Subject: Re: Soil Test Question

Little River, TX
We get the red MOP & it is 0-0-60.
How much to spread at one time depends on the soil. If I had one like jd6400 in the usual 10 to 15 meq/100 mg range plus or minus, I would split the application. if using over 400 lbs Potash. That would be pushing things below a 10 CEC and no problem at all at or above 20 meq/100 mg.

CEC is Cation Exchange Capacity, and means how well the clay and or organic matter ties up any and all cations, ie K, Mg, Ca, NH4, Na, H, and many trace minerals.

My average CEC is 40 meq/100g because of our heavy clay soil. There are advantages as well as challenges for each type of soil.
