| A lot depends on your utility policies. Its nicest and simplest if the utility uses just one meter and net metering allowing you to dump your excess power to the utility and turn your meter backwards, so they pay you the same as you pay them. Many utilities will not do that. They require two meters with ratchets, so one shows power you consumed from the utility and the other shows power you supplied to the utility. You pay full price for power you bought and they pay you their avoided fuel cost for what you fed them typically 3 or 4 cents a KWH. That makes the utility as a battery efficiency very low and seriously extends the time to break even. And there are utilities that will pay you to allow them to install panels on your territory.
