I think you are right. The circus is just outdated. Heck you can watch the circus on your phone. Maybe not the same atmosphere but you can sit at home and watch it.
I do agree that some of the conditions those animals live in is maybe questionable. But, PETA and HSUS are claiming this as a victory regardless if that's the real reason.
