Coldwater, Michigan | In most cases the leaching of P&K isn't a factor. However, in some of the irrigated sands west and north of Coldwater, Michigan (Sturgis, Mendon, Schoolcraft areas), some of the sands won't hold lime, so I wouldn't expect them to hold potash well either. There isn't any exchange capacity in them so there is nowhere to hang potash, lime, Nitrogen, N-serve, magnesium, and probably sulfur.
In those situations, probably spoon feeding them makes more sense agronomically. Maybe not economically, but agronomically.
Most soils however, and even most sandy soils, leaching isn't usually a problem.
