Subject: RE: Educate Me On Liquid Nitrogen - 60" Centers??

SW MN and Gold Canyon AZ
On heavy soils I would not even think about 60 inch centers. I know that even with manure put down at 30 inch centers if the corn is not directly over the manure or you don't work the field at enough angle you can really see the differences. It really shows up because the corn over the manure grows taller and greener than normal and really makes the N defiecient corn look bad.
I would not even take the chance of putting N on 60 inch centers especially in heavy wet soils.
Now if someone could figure out how to keep the big manure tanks straight on side hills ( at low cost)then a guy could plant right over the manure. Problem is the tanks are getting so expensive already and I can see EPA regs forcing custom haulers and applicators to have GPS flow meters and all that other expensive stuff.
Local custom app guy told me the price of a 7200 gal tank went up 30000$ in the last 4 years. OUCH
