China would have to curb meat consumption in order to decrease their demand needs. That will not happen. They will not tell their newly meat consuming citizenry that they will have to go back to rice. That will definitely not happen. The blowback against their government would be too risky. They may not be democratic, but the do have to care about their people. Telling them they will not eat meat would be the same as telling them Chinese society is moving backwards.
