Northeastern Pa. | I have driven the 8 spd and was taught how to shift it. The worst thing Deere did was put the big handled shifter on it. I always wrap my hand around the rail and shifted the 3020's etc. with my thumb. Smooth shifts. The 4250 15spd. basically did the same. Our 4250 had 10,000 plus hours on it before it need a clutch pack replaced. A manual trans would have needed at least one clutch job by then. So like anything if they are treated right they are good. I do remember when a factory rep. was at our local Deere day when the 50's 15spd came out he said just shift anyway you want without the clutch. Reverse to forward and back whatever. That's a crazy statement. Depends on load and rpms to me. | |
